The Bryan Brothers win a well deserved gold medal – 2012 Olympic Games

The flying brothers are arguably the best doubles in tennis history. They were missing just this medal to complete their Golden Career Slam and… they got it!

The final was a tricky one as they had to face two very strong players: LLodra and Tsonga. The Americans managed to win a tricky first set by saving 6 break points out of 6 and converting 1 (a decisive one) out of 2. The second set was completely even without any break and it was decided at the tiebreak where the Bryans played perfectly to win it 7-2.

After this win there was a huge hug between the brothers “That’s the longest we’ve hugged,” Bob said. “We’ve spent 50,000 hours together, and probably 30,000 on the court, working our butts off to get here. That hug right there was a culmination of it all.”

“For those moments, you don’t plan them,” Mike said. “I usually jump, and he usually holds me.”

Bob gave some “merit” to Serena Williams that after her epic win she said to them, “Guys, come on,'” and Bob added that “She gave me a fist and this really tough face, and I thought we kind of adopted that persona.”

Finally a great day for the American tennis that is still missing the next Sampras/Agassi/McEnroe/Connors.
