Nadal withdraws from Cincinnati!

Rafael Nadal has just impressed after conquering his 33rd Master ATP1000 and his 80th career title to surprise against after withdrawing from Cincinnati a few hours later.

The Spanish legend didn’t look that tired after beating Tsitsipas in straight sets, but he felt he had to be careful in how he manages his body. Therefore, the world no.1 decided not to compete in Cincinnati to release the following statement

“I am very sorry to announce that I won’t be playing in Cincinnati this year. No other reason than personally taking care of my body and trying to keep as healthy as I feel now.

I am very thankful to my friend Andre Silva, Tournament Director of the Cincinnati tournament, who after speaking to him on the phone understood what I said to him and understood the situation. I am sure the tournament will be a success, and I wish him and his team all the best.

I am also sad for those amazing fans in Cincy who always gave me great support. I am sure I’ll see them next year, and I am sorry I won’t be with them this year.

Thanks for all the support as always.”

Rafa will be replaced by a lucky loser.

Among the other players, Denis Shapovalov is probably the guy to benefit the most about it as he was expected to face Rafa as early as in the 3rd round.
