Stefanos Tsitsipas had an incredible run in Toronto where he defeated 4 top10 players in a row. Eventually, the Greek sensation bumped into a huge wall: Rafael Nadal.
Stefanos played his first ATP final in Barcelona against Nadal where he was dismantled 6-2 6-1. This time in Toronto things got much better with the Greek losing 6-2 7-6(4) after he had a set point.
Nadal is amazing; I hope I hope I can reach his level one day. TSITSIPAS
After the match, the 20-year-old couldn’t refrain from commenting about his conqueror to say
“The patience that Rafa has is amazing. He never cracks. He will always grab you like a bulldog and always will always make you suffer on the court. And it is amazing what he has built as a player. That’s how you feel when you play against him. So, I need to work much more, and hopefully, I can reach his level one day.
I’m really hungry for more. I believe I can achieve much more this year. My game is currently, although I lost today, I feel like I can still beat good players.”
