The Cincinnati draw is out, and there is 1 thing that is striking: Roger Federer and Andy Murray should clash early in the 3rd round.
Both Roger and Andy have been training for long to prepare this ATP1000. Roger hasn’t played since Wimbledon while Andy decided to withdraw from both Washington and Toronto to get fit for the event.
On one side, Federer will be seeded no.2, and he will have a bye to the second round when he will play either Joao Sousa or Peter Gojowczyk. On the other side, Andy is still ranked no.375, and he accessed the main draw thanks to a wild card. Andy will face Lucas Pouille in the 1st round and Leonardo Mayer or a qualifier in the 2nd before possibly facing Roger in the 3rd.
The head to head between Federer and Murray is 14-11 for the Swiss, but they are not playing each other for 3 years (the semifinal in Cincinnati when Federer won 6-4 7-6).
