Why Shapovalov and Fognini are not in great terms

Denis Shapovalov and Fabio Fognini are not best friends.

Recently, the Italian said that “This story of NextGen for me is bullshit because young players like Shapovalov are very good but they have to be seen not on Centre Court or Lenglen. Nadal at their age won Roland Garros.” That comment wasn’t nice for the likes of Shapovalov, Tsitsipas, and the rest of the youngsters that are trying to get to make their way in the circuit.

Just before clashing against the Italian in the 2nd round in Toronto, Shapovalov was crossed as his match was rescheduled out of the Centre Court. Besides the fact that the young Canadian likes the big stages, he is also extremely good at getting fired up by the home crowd, and the more, the better.

Eventually, Denis managed to have the full support of his fans, and in the second set against Fognini, he managed to recover from a tough 0-4 deficit before winning the encounter 6-3 7-5.
