Roger Federer has been inspiring the current and the future tennis generation for some time. His way to interpret the game, his style and his beautiful backhand set some important standards, especially for the youngsters.

There is no surprise in the fact that 2 of the most exciting players, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Denis Shapovalov, have the “same” one-handed backhand as the Swiss sensation and the Greek is rather “vocal” about his admiration for Roger.

Why Federer is my role model. TSITSIPAS

During a recent interview, Tsitsipas explained how Roger (and also Rafael Nadal) has inspired him to comment

“The way he played was reflecting on me the way I played, and I always wanted to be like him. I was always watching his matches. I also admired Rafael Nadal, because of his fighting spirit and the energy on the court, but mostly Federer because the way he played was so beautiful and looked so natural for me.”

Stefanos has just reached the 3rd round in Toronto after defeating Dominic Thiem. He will face Novak Djokovic for a place in the quarters.
