The last few months have been a whirlwind for Bianca Andreescu. The 19-year old Canadian star just won the 2019 US Open, delivering her first triumph in a Grand Slam tournament. Her victory in the year’s last Grand Slam followed wins in Toronto’s Rogers Cup and California’s Indian Wells Masters earlier this year. Pretty much every eye in the tennis world is waiting for what the world no. 5 will do next. Bianca, of course, chose to continue preparing for the next tournaments for the rest of the year.

What did Bianca Andreescu do after her U.S. Open win?

Despite celebrating her win, the Canadian reveals that she continued practicing for her upcoming matches. She said that she scheduled great practice sessions during the training week she had in Montreal and Toronto. The moment she got into Beijing, she also started practicing for her matches right away.

Because of her training sessions, Andreescu said that she feels confident about her chances in the next few tournaments she will be part of. It also helps that she had a few days to relax both physically and mentally after the grueling two weeks she had to endure in the U.S. Open. This will help her in her goal of not having any more injuries, especially with the physical woes she had in the past months.

Canada celebrates Andreescu’s achievement

Andreescu also got a warm reception in Canada when she returned home. The Ontario native got multiple congratulations from her fellow Canadians. She notably got the support of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who complimented her for bringing honor to the country.

Toronto Mayor John Tory also made headlines when he announced September 16, 2019 as Bianca Andreescu Day. Toronto is a special place for world No. 5 as she did a lot of her training growing up in the city.

The Canadian star also got a massive celebration in her hometown of Mississauga, just less than an hour from Toronto. She was welcomed via the “She the North” rally, which was attended by Trudeau and 10,000 people. Andreescu got a key to the city. It was also announced that a street will be renamed to “Andreescu Way” in honor of her achievement.
