Sacha and Mischa Zverev, the golden brothers of tennis, are going to be “enemies” for once in the Washington 3rd round.
The Germans have sailed together for all over the world, and now that their rankings are getting better and better they are obviously more likely to play each other even if there is a 9-year gap between the 2.
Ranked no.3, Sacha will get to this appointment with his brother after he defeated Jaziri in straight sets (6-1 6-2) in the opener. Mischa (no.42) got to this match after dismissing Smyzcek in 2 sets (6-2 7-6).
We played the Wimbledon final many times
Sascha commented “We played the final of Wimbledon a lot of times in our backyard. I was 12. He was 22. I don’t think I ever won. But this is on hardcourt.”
Besides their “Wimbledon finals,” Mischa leads Sascha 1-0 in H2H matches at pro-level., but that was 4 years ago in the Houston qualifications.
This is another time.
