Bouchard receives a wildcard for the Rogers Cup

Genie Bouchard is (probably) on her way to recovery.

Ranked only world no. 146, the Canadian is now in the semifinal in Gstaad showing some good tennis. Genie received the good and expected news that she was granted a wildcard for the upcoming Rogers Cup that will take place in Montreal from the 6th of June.

From the organization

The tournament director Eugene Lapierre commented

“Eugenie is currently showing great things, and we hope that she can keep her momentum going in Montreal.

She gave fans a great show back in April when she got two important wins at the most recent Fed Cup tie. She also thrilled the crowds at the 2016 Rogers Cup presented by National Bank.

We cannot wait to see her in action at home once again. It will be a great way to kick-off the tournament to see her play on Centre Court on the first day of the main draw.”

The defending champion is Elina Svitolina, that last year defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the final 6-4 6-0.
