Murray defeats Nieminem and the rain – 2012 Olympics

Few weeks ago it wasn’t that nice for Andy when they closed the retractable roof during his final with Federer. That actually marked the end of his hopes to win the Championship. This time it was different for many reasons. First the game was not as tense as that final, second Nieminem is a good player, but not as good as Roger on indoor grass. So this time it was fine for the Scott.

The match was one way traffic. Andy broke Jarkko in the opening game of each set to finish his solid performance in only 61 minutes (6 aces and 26 winners). Usually a good indicator of a player’s performance comes from the winning point percentage he is able to achieve on his second serve: Andy won all of them!

“I played well today,” said Murray “He didn’t start the match that well. Then he definitely played better in the second set. I had the momentum for most of the match. Once I got a break up in the second, it was important to stay focused, because I was getting a lot of free points from my serve.”

Baghdatis

Andy will play the Cypriot (Mith) Marcos Bagdhatis that defeated Gasquet 6-4 6-4 in 74 minutes. Marcos is having a wonderful tournament as he feels pretty excited about his results. “Adrenaline is still high,” admitted Baghdatis. “Even in the morning, I wake up and my eyes are very big. I want to keep going. It’s very important and I’m feeling great. I’ll give it a shot.”

“I was serving pretty well,” said an elated Baghdatis abut his match. “I think I played aggressively, I didn’t let Richard play his game and it paid off. It was very emotional.

“I want to thank whoever is up there for giving me the chance to be part of this life. I’m very happy I won today. It was very tough. I’m in the Round of 16 at an Olympic event and that’s an incredible thing for me. I hope I keep going.”

Head to head is 4-3 for Andy, 1 all in Wimbledon. They played this year in the 3rd round with Murray winning 7-5 3-6 7-5 6-1.

Murray is the favourite, but Marcos will definately give it a shot.
