Halep loses an impossible match at the hands of Hsieh

This year has been rather weird in Wimbledon on the Women’s side as 9 of the top10 players didn’t reach the second week.

The last casualty was the world no.1 Simona Halep that has lost an impossible match against the world no.48 Su-Wei Hsieh.

Why this match was so incredible.

The Taiwanese was definitely an underdog against Simona, but she can be a difficult customer on grass because of her unorthodox tennis.

After exchanging the first 2 sets, the Romanian got a strong 5-2 lead, and it seemed as it was already game over. Then things changed completely after the world no.1 played a sloppy returning game and Hsieh reduced the deficit without much struggle(5-3). Later, Simona conceded her serve (5-4), but she had a match point in the following game that was saved by Su-Wei with a fantastic backhand down the line. Eventually, the Asian held her serve (5-5), and she broke Simona in the following game before holding her serve soon after and win an amazing contest.

The final score was 3-6 6-4 7-5, and Simona will not be happy about that.
