Serena Williams advances in Wimbledon

Serena Williams is still not at her very best, but a win a is a win.

Now ranked no. 181, the American is still trying to find her best form. The former world no.1 had the nice gift from the Wimbledon organization to be seeded no.25, and she will do everything she can to honor that gesture.

Serena won the first round against the world no. 105 Arantxa Rus 7-5 6-3 after playing not at her best, but she is fully aware that this is another step toward a complete comeback.

Draw and Results

I tried to stay calm. SERENA

After the match, Serena commented

“More than anything, I just was trying to be more calm. I wanted to do so well. Sometimes that works against you sometimes. I feel like I was just overly anxious and overdoing it. Towards the end, I definitely was more calm, just making my shots, just playing a more serene game. I feel like it worked out.”

Next vs. Tomova

Serena will face the world no.135 Viktoriya Tomoya in the second round. They have never played each other so far.
