Marin Cilic triumphs at the Queen’s Club!
The Croatian ends a fantastic week in London after winning his 18th title, the 1st of the season. Marin had to overcome a rejuvenated Novak Djokovic in the final after he was very close to defeat.
The match
Djokovic won the first set after breaking Cilic in the 12th game (7-5), and he was extremely close to winning his first title in almost a year when he was leading 5-4 and 6-5 in the second set. In the 10th game Cilic was also down 15-30, but eventually, he managed to hold before winning the set at the breaker.
The Croatian was excellent on serve in the decider to drop only 4 points while he conquered the decisive break in the 8th game (5-3) before winning the match 5-7 7-6 (4) 6-3.4 after 2 hours and 57 minutes.

After the match, Marin commented
“It was a special win for me because last year I had a match point and didn’t convert it. It was a tough match, with no breaks for me until the final set.”
This is the second time that Marin wins this trophy after 2012.
