Novak is ready to compete in Tokyo

Novak Djokovic has finally landed in Tokyo where he will play the Japan Open. The world no.1 decided to compete in Tokyo and not in Beijing this year as he wanted to test the ground ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games in 2020.

The shoulder injury

Unfortunately, the Serbian got injured to his left shoulder to withdraw when playing in the 4th round of the recent US Open against Stan Wawrinka. It wasn’t clear if Novak would have been ready to compete in the Asian Swing, but eventually, he made it. The decision was made after Djokovic had a couple of excellent training sessions after a 3-weeks’ break. The good news was that he was injury-free.

From Serbia to Italy and Japan

Novak arrived in Tokyo on Friday after a quick trip to lake Como (Italy). The world no.1 needs to win Tokyo and the following ATP1000 in Shanghai if he wants to keep his top rank.
