Simona Halep is the big personality of the moment back in Romania.
The world no.1 has finally conquered her 1st slam title at the French Open after recovering from a tough 3-6 0-2 deficit in her final against Sloane Stephens.
Back home Simona had a mind-blowing reception from her compatriots that have filled the National Arena.
Simona looked very emotional before this crowd on 20,000 people to say
“I want to thank Romania for everything it has given me so far. I hope this trophy is the beginning of a new generation of champions. I don’t want to leave this scene; it’s too beautiful. Thank you, and my heart is with you.”
