Federer not staying at the Olympic Village because he is too famous!

The Olympics are about to start and there is still a bit of room for tennis players to reflect about this or that. It was very interesting the fact that some athletes (especially tennis players)  avoided to stay at the Olympic Village.

For tennis players it might be understandable as they are used to rent a house during Wimbledon (quite often the same house) in order to get to their routine. That is primary reason for most of them, but not for Roger Federer that spotted another problem: he is too famous to hang around the Olympic Village!

For example, as it happened for the Opening Cerimony, there is an incredible frenzy by the athletes to have pictures with other famous athletes, so you can imagine that for Roger spending hours just taking pictures at the Olympic Village would not have been feasable and …what about his family?

Too famous

“I have become very famous over the last eight years or so. When I do move around the village, things are not as simple as they were. I want to try and perform well. I want to make Switzerland proud with a medal and for that I need to prepare accordingly,” Federer said.

About the flag

“First, I obviously hoped they would offer it to me and only later when I did accept it, I thought it was better for me to give it to someone else actually. I think it is great honour for Stan because I couldn’t have won the Olympic gold without him. That is why I think they chose the right guy,” Federer said.

OK… now time to play!
