DEVASTATING Muguruza demolishes Sharapova in emphatic fashion

Muguruza vs. Sharapova was one of the most intriguing matches of this week at the Roland Garros. On one side, Garbine appeared tuned-in to win her 3rd slam; on the other, Maria seemed to be on the right direction to play her best tennis.

The match

Eventually, this match was completely one-sided. In fact, Garbine and Maria have a very similar game with the difference that in this quarter Muguruza was just much better at it. The Spaniard conquered a fast lead (4-0) in the first set after winning a monumental second break in the 3rd game before capturing the opener 6-2. The second set was also one-way traffic, and soon after Sharapova clinched the second game (1-1), Muguruza won the following 5 after dropping just 5 points. The final score was a stern 6-2 6-1.
