Kyrgios, Tomic to clash in the French Open 1st round!

Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic seem to be born to grab headlines and this time they do it because of their upcoming clash in the Roland Garros 1st round.

At the moment Nick and Bernard are experiencing an entirely different situation on tour. On one side, ranked no. 23, Kyrgios is trying to get back his fitness after he has been sidelined by an elbow injury and, that’s new,  he is not hitting the front pages anymore with his quirks. On the other, Tomic’s rank collapsed (now world no. 208) and tournaments are refusing to grant him wildcards because of his behavior. Therefore, Bernard’s road to a better ranking is not so easy.

The match

Tomic had to gain access to the main draw in Paris through the qualifications, and he had the “nasty” surprise to play Nick in the first round. The interesting fact is that they have never played each other on tour even if they definitely know their game very well. (in the video as below they were practicing together at the US Open)

It’s impossible to pick a favorite because according to the rankings, Kyrgios should win easily, but he has not been playing a match on tour since April the 13th when he lost in Houston against Ivo Karlovic. In addition, Tomic has played 3 consecutive matches already in Paris, and he won them without dropping a single set. Therefore, Bernard can have an edge. This will be interesting!
