INJURY. Djokovic’s shoulder is pain-free and he is confident he will play in Tokyo

Why Djokovic is confident he will play in Japan

Fantastic news for Novak Djokovic and his fans. The Serbian sensation was extremely pleased with his first training sessions after the US Open because he had no pain anymore to his shoulder.

The shoulder injury

Novak had to withdraw in the 4th round of the US Open because of a shoulder injury that he was nursing for weeks. This unfortunate event made it difficult for Djokovic to defend his world no.1 status especially after Nadal won the last slam of the year. Therefore, if Novak wants to stay at the top of the rankings by the end of the year, he needs to play (and go deep) in the next few tournaments.

Will Djokovic play in Tokyo?

There were doubts about Djokovic’s participation in Japan, but the world no.1 confirmed that he is confident to say (font zurnal.rs):

“Yesterday, I trained for the first time after America and there was no shoulder pain which is an encouraging circumstance.

For now, it seems like I have a good chance of playing Tokyo. That’s my intention. The next two days will be crucial to assessing shoulder recovery. The important thing is that the first training, like today ‘s second one, was at its best. If that continues, on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest, I will decide whether or not to go.”
