Svitolina wins the title in Rome

Same final and same outcome in Rome.

Elina Svitolina and Simona Halep had a rematch of the 2017 final in Rome and also this year it was the Ukrainian to win the contest.

The match

It seemed from the very beginning that Simona was struggling as she looked hollow after her great win in the semis against Maria Sharapova.

The Romanian lost the first set after scoring just 8 points and in 19 minutes. Fortunately, Simona put up a bit more of a fight in the second set, and she scored her first game at the very beginning (1-0). Then, Svitolina won the following 3 games to grab a solid 3-1 lead that was the base for her to conquer the final after just 67 minutes. The final score was 6-0 6-4.

This is Elina’s 12th career title and the 3rd of 2018.
