Sascha Zverev wins his 13th consecutive match in Rome after edging Marin Cilic in straight sets.
During the semifinal against the Croatian, the German was showing signs of fatigue as this was his 13th match in 17 days. Still, Sascha managed to win the contest after conquering a gigantic tiebreak in the opening set (at 13). After winning the opener, the German had to dig deep also in the second set before winning the match 7-6 (13) 7-5 in just more than 2 hours.

Soon after the match, Sascha commented
“It was very tough. It’s always tough playing Marin. He’s one of the best players on Tour right now. He knows what it takes to win the big matches in the big moments, so I had to play my best to get the win today.”
