Rafael Nadal had to work a bit “extra” to reach the semifinal in Rome as the Spanish Legend managed to edge a tricky Fabio Fognini in the quarters.
The match
Rafa looked in complete control against the Italian, after he grabbed a fast 4-1 lead. Then, the Spaniard lost his rhythm to lose 5 consecutive games and drop the 1st set (4-6). Everything became “normal” in the following 2 sets when the Mallorcan conceded just 3 games in total to the Italian before winning 4-6 6-1 6-2. The match ended after 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Nadal will face either Kei Nishikori or Novak Djokovic in the semifinal.
