Simona Halep is having a relaxing week in Rome.
In fact, the world no.1 reaches the semifinals after dropping just 1 game in the entire tournament.
How did this happen?
Since Simona is top-seeded, she received a bye to skip the first round. In the second round, the Romanian played a fantastic match against Naomi Osaka to beat the Japanese 6-1 6-0. Things got even more interesting for Simona after she won the 3rd round following the retirement of Madison Keys.
This means that Simona secured at least 190pts and € 58,313 in prize money with the minimum effort. That’s a new situation for Simona that is used to get to the later stages of her tournaments after fierce battles.

Simona will face the world no.7 Caroline Garcia in the quarters. The head to head is 3-1 for the Romanian, but they have never faced each other on clay.
