Trump offered $1 million to McEnroe to play Serena or Venus Williams

Last year in June, John McEnroe (58 at that time) made the headlines after he said that he could beat Serena Williams

Apparently, nothing really happened with the exception of a lot of noise on the magazines about men taking on women in sport, but in reality, something was going on behind the scenes

What happened?

During the “In Depth with Graham Bensinger,” McEnroe revealed that “I was calling a match and suddenly I get this envelope, and it’s from Donald Trump, who is promoter galore. So he wrote me a letter, it went, ‘Dear John, I want to offer you $1 million to play either Serena or Venus.”

That happened before Trump was elected President.

Eventually, the match was never played, and John commented that not even his daughter was convinced “‘Dad, I don’t know if you can beat Serena,'” McEnroe said. “I’m like, ‘God. I can’t even get my kids on my side.'”
