Roger has expressed many times he wasn’t sure it was fair for him to be the flag bearer for the 3rd time and he wanted to give this incredible honour to another athlete. That was just the confirmation of is incredible sportsmanship. (we didn’t need it.. we know him!)
The choice went on Stanislas that won the gold with Roger in doubles in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Wawrinka will be among other tennis players to have the honour such as Djokovic (Serbia) , Tecau (Romania), Baghdatis (Cyprus) , Minri (Belarus) , Vogt (Liechtenstein), Sharapova (Russia), Radwanska (Poland)
