FULL OF TEARS. Kvitova triumphs in Prague

Petra Kvitova keeps on having a great run in 2018.

After winning the titles in St. Petersburg and Doha, the 28-year-old also conquers the home tournament in Prague after defeating Mihaela Buzarnescu 4-6 6-2 6-3 in the final.

The emotional ceremony

Even if this was Petra’s 23rd career title, she couldn’t stop from crying during the ceremony. In fact, Petra survived a terrible attack at home at the end of 2016 when she was stabbed in her left hand leaving question marks about her chances to go back to compete on the circuit.

Petra explained

“I didn’t prepare anything. It just came into my mind during the warm-up of the match because I knew my doctor and a lot of people were coming. Suddenly I got the microphone, and I started to speak, and everything came to my mind, and I couldn’t stop crying.

I’m happy that I did it. It was my first tournament at home since everything and playing in my home club was pretty special.”
