Tsitsipas gets a wildcard in Madrid

The Greek has a free pass to the main draw in Madrid

Good news for Stefanos Tsitsipas as the Greek scores a wildcard for the main draw in Madrid.

The 19-year-old was meant to play the qualifications at the upcoming ATP1000, but after Thanasi Kokkinakis withdrew his participation (injury) his wildcard was granted to Tsitsipas.

The Athenian is having a fantastic stint on clay with a tremendous 8-2 win-loss record after he reached the 2nd round in Monte Carlo (coming from the qualifications) and he was the runner-up at the latest ATP500 in Barcelona.

From the organization

Manolo Santana, the tournament director, commented

“I’m sorry about Kokkinakis’ injury; I wish him a quick and complete recovery.

I enjoyed watching Tsitsipas at the tournament in Barcelona and was impressed by his potential on clay. He is deserving of a place at our tournament, and I am convinced that he will entertain the fans in the Caja Mágica.”

Currently ranked no.44, Stefanos will participate to the 4th ATP1000 of his young and very promising career.

Great to see.
