18-year-old is one of the most exciting players on tour. She was one of the key names to watch before the recent US open, but unfortunately she never made it to the Flushing Meadows after the sudden death of her beloved father.
Amanda took some time off to regroup and she is now back to the tour in Wuhan when she wants to have a “relaxed” run.

Amanda is already focussed on the first slam of the next season where she thinks she can do better than this year (4th round). Talking about her chances in Melbourne, Anisimova commented: “I think I can do pretty well there, especially if I have a good pre-season.”
Talking about her current run un Wuhan, Amanda added: “I’m really happy to be back… I’m just focusing on having fun this tournament. I really don’t have any expectations for myself.”

Ranked no.29, Amanda has a 24-13 win-loss record in 2019. Amanda is in Wuhan where she beat Samantha Stosur 6-3 3-6 6-3.
Amanda will fight against Karolina Pliskova in the 2nd round. The head to head is 1-0 for Karolina Pliskova.
The last time that they played, Pliskova won 6-1 7-62 in the 4th round in Indian Wells in March 2018.
