Incredible stuff in Barcelona where 19-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas reaches the final without dropping a single set for the entire week.
The world no.63 is having a fantastic event in Cataluna also after he conceded just 5 games in the quarters to Dominic Thiem to defeat the world no.11 Pablo Carreno Busta 7-5 6-3 in the semifinal.
The match
The Greek started the contest in the best possible way after he dropped just 2 points in the first 3 games to conquer a strong 3-0 lead. However, things became extremely complicated after Stefanos failed to convert 2 consecutive break points while he was leading 4-1 that would have given him a decisive 5-1 advantage. Instead, it was the Spaniard to storm back in the set a catch an unexpected 5-all scoreline. At this point, the youngster impressed with his maturity to regroup and win the opener 7-5.
In the second set, the only difference between Stefanos and Pablo was only 1 break that the Greek conquered in the 6th game (4-2). That was enough for Tsitsipas to win the match in straight sets.
Tsitsipas will face either Goffin or (most probably) Nadal in the final.
In 2018 Tsitsipas has a superb 8-1 win-loss record and after playing 2 top tournaments in Monte Carlo and now in Barcelona.
