Grigor Dimitrov plays a fantastic match in Monte Carlo to reach the quarters after defeating an inspired Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Ranked no.40, the German is still extremely dangerous on clay; he got a fast 5-2 lead against Dimitrov in the opener before winning the first set 6-4. Dimitrov looked in deep trouble when he was also 1-2 and a break down in the second set, but eventually the world no. 5 bounced back to win the following 4 games (5-2) before bringing the affair at the decider.
Both players performed exceptionally well in the 3rd set, and eventually it was just 1 break in the 7th game the difference between these two. Dimitrov won the contest 4-6 6-3 6-4 after 2 hours and 22 minutes.
Next vs. Goffin
Grigor will face David Goffin in the quarters. The head to head is 6-1 for the Bulgarian. The last match against Dimitrov wasn’t very pleasant for David that had to retire after a freak accident to his eye (in the Rotterdam semifinal).
