Zverev reaches the quarter in Monte Carlo

Sascha Zverev reaches the quarters in Monte Carlo after edging his friend and compatriot Jan-Lennard Struff.

Sascha was the hot favorite against the world no.61, but eventually his opponent found the way to bother the youngster. After splitting the first 2 sets, Zverev won 4 consecutive games since he was trailing on a 1-2 scoreline to lead 5-2. Sascha lost at love the first time he tried to serve out the match and Struff had the opportunity to get closer to his friend after he won the following service game (5-4). Zverev didn’t fail to serve out the contest for the second time to finally win 6-4 4-6 6-4 after 2 hours and 3 minutes.

About playing his brother

Sascha may face his brother Mischa in the quarters. The 20-year0old commented

“To be in the quarter-finals of a Masters 1000, you have to play well, and the draw doesn’t get any easier. It will be an interesting game if I play my brother.”
