Nadal will not play the 2012 Olympic Games in London

“Today is one of the saddest days of my career. I am not able to compete”. These are the words used by Rafa explaining his forfeit for the London Olympics.

It is a very sad news as the King of Clay was doing everything he could to recover from his tendonitis to his left knee, but it seems that all the Olympic glory (title and flag bearing) are gone.

Magnetic Reasonances

During Wimbledon Rafa underwent 2 magnetic resonance imaging scans to his left knee. Eventually Rafa had a shocking second round upset at the hands of Rosol. Then Rafa had to cancel his exhibition with Djokovic that was due for the 14th of July at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Attachment to Spain

Rafa showed once again his strong attachment to his nation buy adding “I have to think about my companions,” Nadal said  “I can’t be selfish, and I have to think of what’s best for Spanish sport, especially tennis, and give up my spot to someone who has had better preparation than mine and is ready to compete.”

“He doesn’t want to give excuses for past losses; he’s not in condition to play. That’s all he wants to say,” said his publicist Benito Perez-Barbadillo. “He’s going to start practicing again. He’s just not ready to compete. He’s not competing for himself here. This is not Rome or Madrid or even the French Open. This is competing for your country. You can’t go out there when someone else can be competing at full strength.”

Feliciano Lopez will take his place in singles and Marc Lopez in doubles.

Uncle Toni added “Rafael has gone through bad times and serious injury, but I think this is the worst moment of all. The pain is strong.”

Come On Rafa! We are waiting for you to come back!
