Osaka to play 3 grass tournaments in the UK before Wimbledon

Naomi Osaka seems to be somewhat keen on playing on grass.

The Indian Wells champion has just confirmed her participation in 3 tournaments on grass (Nottingham, Birmingham, and Eastbourne) that will precede Wimbledon.

Now ranked no.22, Naomi decided to have the same schedule as she had last year to improve her skills on grass. In fact,  in 2017 things didn’t go that well for her in the 3 tournaments as she lost in the Nottingham opener, and in the second round of both Birmingham and Eastbourne. At least that helped to reach the 3rd round in Wimbledon where she lost in 2 sets to Venus Williams.

From Osaka

Naomi commented

“I’m excited about finding my feet on grass and playing these three amazing events. I really enjoyed playing in Nottingham last year, and I like the British crowds.

They know their tennis, and they’re fun to play in front of. It’s been a really great year for me so far but I feel like there’s more to come and competing at these big events will be a really good test for me ahead of Wimbledon.”
