Andreescu claims Rovereto WTA 125 triumph
In Italy, 26-year-old Andreescu produced an impressive comeback in the opening set of the Rovereto Open Città della Pace final. Overcoming a 5-2 deficit against sixth seed Dominika Salkova, the 2019 US Open winner rallied to secure a 7-6(2), 6-2 victory.
The WTA 125 triumph marked Andreescu’s third win against a seeded opponent during the tournament, following earlier victories over top seed Antonia Ruzic and fifth seed Lucrezia Stefanini. The title stands as the Canadian’s most significant win since her maiden Grand Slam triumph in New York in 2019, adding to the ITF W35 and W75 trophies she collected in the first 2 months of the season. The success brought her career total to 12 professional singles titles across all levels and propelled her up 36 spots to world No. 132, her highest mark since April.
Stephens secures ITF W100 crown in Oklahoma
On American soil, 2017 US Open champion Stephens enjoyed similar success at the ITF W100 Edmond event in Oklahoma. Stephens defeated 16-year-old Kristina Liutova to seal the tournament victory.
The triumph delivered Stephens her 11th career professional singles crown across all circuits and her first tournament victory since lifting the WTA 250 trophy in Rouen in 2024. Having started the season placed outside the world’s top 1,000, the 31-year-old American advanced 15 spots to No. 118, reaching her best WTA ranking position since February 2025.
