RANKINGS. Halep opens a big gap with Wozniacki. Stephens, Osaka at career high

Simona Halep didn’t have a fantastic run in Miami where she lost in the 3rd round to Agnieszka Radwanska in the 3rd round. Eventually, the world no.1 took full advantage of Caroline Wozniacki not being able to defend the points she gained in Florida last year where she was the runner-up (this year she lost in the opener). Therefore, the Romanian has now a sizeable 1,350pts lead over the Dane.

Stephens

Sloane amazed again after she conquered the title in Miami to go up 3 places in the rankings and be new world no.9 (career high).

Osaka

Naomi had an incredible run in Indian Wells where she won the title after exterminating many top players on the way. The Japanese was poised for greatness also in Miami after she conceded just 5 games to Serena Williams in the first round, but a couple of days later she fell to Elina Svitolina (and an illness). After reaching the 3rd round in Florida, Naomi goes 1 place up in the rankings to be the new world n.21 (career high). Much more to come.

Ostapenko

Jelena reached the final in Miami. Winning the title would have allowed her to become the new world no.3. She is still ranked no.5, but she is now just 19 points away from Elina Svitolina.

Azarenka

After reaching the semifinal in Miami, Vika goes up 94 places in the rankings to be the new world no.92. Her comeback is definitely on the way.

Here the full rankings.
