Isner reaches the Miami final

John Isner is playing fantastic tennis in Miami to reach the final after beating the likes of Marin Cilic, Hyeon Chung, and now an in-form Juan Martin Del Potro.

Isner had a horrible start of the season to win just 1 match in 6 tournaments; then the American found his way in Miami to reverse the grim 1-6 record of 2018 and reach the final after playing one of the best tennis of his career.

The match vs. Del Potro

John had to face an in-form Del Potro in the Miami final. The Argentine was enjoying a 15-winning streak after he won back to back Rotterdam and Indian Wells and he was one of the favorites in Miami.

Isner started the match in a fantastic way to win the opening set 6-1. The second set was more “regular” with both players holding their serves till the breaker. Eventually, it was Isner to wrap up the match after 83 minutes sand the score was 6-1 7-6 (2).

Things are just clicking. ISNER

Soon after the match, Isner commented

“Things are just clicking. Look, if I’m returning well and getting in return games, that should bode well for me, given how I serve. Very happy it’s all sort of coming together right now.  I just know with my game, if I’m doing the right things, it doesn’t really matter who I’m playing. I’m going to be very tough to beat.”

The final vs. Zverev

Isner will face Sascha Zverev in the final. The head to head is 3-0 for the German that will chase his 3rd Master ATP1000.
