Zverev dismisses Kyrgios in straight sets

Sascha Zverev reaches the quarters in Miami after dismissing a below-par Kyrgios in straight sets.

The Australian wasn’t in the right mood from the very beginning to immediately concede his serve in the 1st (0-1) and 5th (1-4) game of the opening set to find himself battling on a 1-5 scoreline after just 16 minutes. Apparently, the Australian was struggling with his back, and the biggest problem for his opponent was just to keep the focus. Eventually, Kyrgios found the way to win 3 consecutive games out of the blue (4-5), but it was the German to hold his serve soon after and conquer the opening set (6-4).

Until that moment, this encounter wasn’t of great quality, but finally the match took off in the second set. In fact, Kyrgios looked more interested in the battle, but a more solid Zverev found the decisive break in the 5th game (3-2) before conquering the contest after just 71 minutes (6-4 6-4).
