Seeded no.1, Simona Halep had one of her trademarks wins in Miami against the world no.98 Oceane Dodin.
After exchanging the first 2 sets, Simona was in deep waters when she was 1-3 in the decider. Then, after a lengthy exchange of consecutive breaks (4), Simona managed to make it even (4-4) before conquering the decisive break in the 11th game (6-5). Soon after, Halep won the contest 3-6 6-3 7-5 after 2 hours and 6 minutes.
I am not sure why I played badly. HALEP
Soon after the match, the world no.1 confessed that although she wasn’t happy with her tennis, she was pleased that she survived. She commented
“I cannot tell you much about this match, because I don’t really know how it is. I felt just that I played bad, but it’s a good day at the office, and I’ll take it.
You have these days, and when you don’t give up, it’s the most important thing,” Halep told the media. “I think that’s why I won today, because I didn’t give up. I didn’t play well, but, you know, in the end, if you win it, you take only the positives.”
Next vs. Radwanska
Simona will face Agnieszka Radwanska in the 2nd round. The head to head is 5-all, 3-all on hard court.
