Naomi Osaka and Darya Kasatkina were the 2 big and “unexpected” names of the recent Indian Wells edition.
During the fortnight, the Japanese had a funny tennis lesson from Kasatkina on how to execute a tweener, but then it was time for Naomi to give a tennis lesson to Darya during the final when winning 6-3 6-2 against the Russian.
No hard feeling between the two that eventually flew together to Florida in a private jet where they are going to play the Miami Open.
Naomi commented
“We just needed to get out of here, so that’s basically how that happened. I don’t know. I have never been on one, so that’s going to be fun for me. Yeah, I’m going to try not to listen to music, so I’m going to see if she’s going to talk to me, because. I’m going to see how that works out.
But it’s not like you can talk to anyone in an airplane, anyway. So that’s… yeah. I don’t know where I went with that.”
Osaka will have a very tough task in Miami where she will face Serena Williams in the opener. If she wins, the Japanese will face Elina Svitolina.
