Good draw in Miami for Roger Federer that he is still recovering from the disappointment of Indian Wells where he couldn’t convert 3 championship points (on his serve) before falling to a great Juan Martin Del Potro.
However, the rule of the pro tennis is that next week you have another chance (and another life), so the Maestro will focus and do everything he can to defend his title in Miami.
Roger had a “good start” in Florida as he was handed a rather good draw. In addition, the event will be orphan of the likes of Murray, Nadal, and Wawrinka (and that helps the cause of the other players).
Here the projected path
1st – bye
2nd – qualifier
3rd – Verdasco
4th – Carreno Busta
1/4 – Anderson / Berdych
1/2 – A. Zverev
The other players
A recovering Novak Djokovic is on a collision course with Juan Martin Del Potro (4th round). Grigor Dimitrov may face Richard Gasquet in the 3rd. Kyrgios may play Fognini in the 3rd. Denis Shapovalov will face Viktor Troicki in the opener.
Projected quarters
Federer – Anderson
A. Zverev – Sock
Del Potro/Djokovic – Dimitrov
Cilic – Goffin
