Coric reaches the semifinal in Indian Wells

Borna Coric is finally rising again.

The young Croatian didn’t shine as predicted after he stormed in the pro-circuit when he was just 17 following some prestigious wins against the likes of Nadal (Basel). Borna is finding his way back, and he has now reached the semifinal in Indian Wells after he defeated Kevin Anderson 2-6 6-4 7-6 (3).

The match vs. Anderson

Borna had an awful start of the match after he won only 3 points in the first 3 games (0-3) before losing the opener 6-2. The 21-year-old conquered the decisive break in the 2nd set in the very first game before winning 6-4.

The Croatian was in dire straits in the decider when he was broken in 6th game (2-4), but Kevin Anderson was not able to consolidate his break to drop his serve soon after (3-4). The affair went to the breaker, and it was Coric to win it at 3. The contest ended after 2 hours and 22 minutes.

Draw and Results

Breaking him in the second set really helped. CORIC

Borna commented

“I didn’t start very well. He was hitting the ball very big, and I just couldn’t find my rhythm on the ball. I started going more for the serve. And then I broke him earlier in the second set, which was really helpful. In the third, again, I knew it’s one break, it’s two or three points are going to decide, and that’s what happened.”

Borna will face either Federer or Chung in the semifinal.
