Simona Halep will stay more at the top of the rankings after Indian Wells.

In fact, the Romanian is currently leading the rankings by 440pts over the world no.2 Caroline Wozniacki. In addition, the world no.1 has currently reached the quarters in the desert improving last year’s performance when she lost in the 4th round. This means that the Romanian will gain at least 150pts (is she loses in the quarters).

The only player that would have been able to overtake the Romanian for the top spot of the rankings would have been Caroline Wozniacki, but the Australian Open champion has lost in the 4th

round in Indian Wells while she reached the quarters last year. This means that the Dane will lose 95 points at the end of the week.

Simona will try to go for more in the desert; she will face Petra Martic for a place in the semifinal and the opportunity to further consolidate her world no.1 spot.
