Incredible stuff in Indian Wells.
At 16 years of age, Amanda Anisimova reaches the 4th without conceding a single set on the way and after dismissing Petra Kvitova 6-2 6-4.
The Match
Amanda started in grand fashion after breaking Petra in the 2nd game and then grab a decisive 3-0 lead. That was enough for the world no.149 to win the opener 6-2.
When Petra Kvitova stormed back in the second set and got a 3-1 lead, it seemed as the youngster was doomed as the “experienced player” was taking over. Eventually, Anisimova surprised again to conquer 5 of the following 6 games and win the match 6-2 6-4.
I am shaking. ANISIMOVA
Amanda was visibly emotional after the match to comment
“I’m shaking right now. This is the biggest stage I’ve ever played on against the strongest person I’ve ever played in a tournament. It’s just crazy.”
“She’s an amazing player I’m pretty sure she was on a 14-match streak, so she was playing really well. I was just trying to stay focused but a the same time I was thinking, Oh my god.”
Next vs. Pliskova
Anisimova will now play Karolina Pliskova in the 4th round. The sky is the limit.
