Bautista-Agut wins the title in Dubai

javascript:mctmp(0);Roberto Bautista Agut is having a fantastic 2018!

The Spaniard has already won the title in Auckland early in the year, and now he doubles it up with the most prestigious title of his career: the ATP500 in Dubai.

Seeded no.3 Roberto dropped just 1 set during the event; he got full advantage of an extremely weak draw in the Emirates.

The final

In the final, he was facing Lucas Pouille that was probably a bit tired after reaching his 2nd back to back final following his run in Marseille the week before where he was the runner-up to Karen Khachanov.

After winning the first set, the Spaniard was 1 break down in the second after conceding his serve in the 4th game (1-3). Eventually, Roberto bounced back to break Pouille soon after in the 5th (2-3) and in the 9th (5-4) game before winning the match 6-3 6-4.

I was mentally strong

After the match, Roberto commented

“I didn’t give him all the court, all the control of the game. I  was mentally strong. I could come back into the match playing very good tennis.”

After this tournament, Roberto will be back in the top20 (he is now 23rd).

Time now to fly to Indian Wells.
