CONFIRMED. Nadal out of Indian Wells and Miami

There is no peace for Rafael Nadal.

The world no.2 has withdrawn from 9 consecutive events since he lost in the Shanghai final to Roger Federer last year. From that moment on, the Spaniard withdrew from Basel, Bercy, the ATP Finals, Abu Dhabi, Brisbane, the Australian Open, Acapulco, and now from Indian Wells and Miami.

What happened?

Just before playing his first round in Acapulco, Nadal felt a sharp pain in his leg while training with Mannarino. Then the King of Clay decided not to compete in Mexico. After a few days, he and his team also took the sensible decision to also skip Indian Wells and Miami to try to get ready for the clay court swing.

Rafa a released the following statement on Facebook

“Hi everyone. Unfortunately, the injury I suffered in Acapulco before starting the tournament is in the same area as the one suffered in Melbourne. I won’t be able to play in Miami or Indian Wells as I need to recover. It was very painful to retire from Acapulco and it’s very hard as well to not play in the USA. I will miss you and I will do everything that’s possible to be back there in 2019. Thank you”

Let’s hope he will get back in full health.
