Dimitrov optimistic in recovering from illness to win Dubai

Grigor Dimitrov has a not so great experience a couple of weeks ago when he faced Roger Federer in the Rotterdam final while he was struggling from a physical point of view. After a good tournament, the Bulgarian had to bow in the final scoring just 4 games (6-2 6-2).

Grigor’s problem was a virus, and he is still recovering from that. The world no.4 is currently in Dubai, and he has a huge chance to win the event as the draw is extremely weak.

Draw and Results

I am getting better and better. DIMITROV

During a recent interview, Grigor commented

“I’m getting out there. It’s still been a little up and down,” said the Bulgarian, who arrived on Wednesday. “I came here a little bit earlier to acclimatize to the conditions.

“I’m still talking a little nosey here,”

“But I’m better, overall better. Pretty much been practicing every single day. That helps me just push through days. Hopefully, with each day, I’m going to be better and better.”

… and about the draw

Then Grigor added

“I think always these kinds of draws are creating very big opportunities for everyone to do their best, to do better, to push themselves more. One of the most important things for me has been to really focus on myself, to start to build up again.

My goal is to be better with each match. This is what I did the last week, the week before. I feel like this is the key that I really need to focus on,” said the Australian Open quarter-finalist.

Anyone here can come out and play unbelievable. Maybe it’s their day. On any given day they can just produce different tennis.”

Grigor will face the world no. 117 Malek Jaziri in the opener. They have never played each other before.
