Camila Giorgi has often a great feeling when competing in Osaka. The Italian reached the semifinals last year in Japan and this week she seems to be in ominous form after reaching the quarters.
Camila didn’t drop a single set on her way to the final 8 and she had a devastating performance against the former world no.3 Sloane Stephens to trash the American 6-0 6-3.
I am playing my game. GIORGI
Camila is wellknown to be “monodirectional” to often go for the kill playing her game. For this reason, in the past, she used to be compared with Andre Agassi. The Italian elaborated why she was so happy after playing Stephens to comment:
“It was a good match for sure and I was able to play my game, show off my attacking style and be consistent. When I play I always focus on myself. I only made a few mistakes. That’s always been my way, ever since I was little, to attack, to go forward, to put the pressure on. This surface suits my game, too.”
Next in line is Elise Mertens, and if Camila wins she may face local favorite Naomi Osaka.
