Simona Halep had a fantastic start of the year even if she played “sponsorless.” The world no.2 won the WTA event in Shenzhen, and she reached the final at the Australian Open. The Romanian lost her world no.1 rank at the hands of Caroline Wozniacki, but she has now a solid chance to get back to the top.
Simona ended her contract with Adidas last year as apparently, the brand refused to increase the sponsorship (it was a “mere” EUR 1 million per year).
Therefore, Simona decided to part ways with Adidas, and now she will be back on court in Doha with a brand new sponsor: Nike.
According to ProrSport, Halep will pocket USD 2 million per year with her new sponsor.
Life can be worse than that. Well done Simona!
Hmmm…. I spy with my little eye a SWOOSH ✊ðŸ˜
