At 15 years of age, Marta Kostyuk is storming into the pro tennis. Now ranked No. 185, the Ukrainian reached the 3rd round of the Australian Open coming straight from the qualifications before winning the ITF Women’s Circuit in the Australian city of Burnie.
Marta stayed in Australia to play the Fed Cup tie against the local team and she had absolutely no problem in dismissing the world no. 26 Daria Gavrilova 7-6 (3) 6-3 in just 88 minutes to level the tie (1-1).
In fact, in the previous match, Ashleigh Barty defeated the world no. 883 Lyudmyla Kichenok 4-6 6-1 6-4.
