Sharapova accepts wildcard for Dubai. Federer still unsure

Maria Sharapova keeps on struggling in her comeback.

The Russian Beauty has won only 1 title in Tianjin in 2017, and she has a 5-2 win-loss record in 2018. Now ranked no.41, Maria has accepted a wildcard to play the tournament in Dubai (26th of February).

Tournament director  Salah Tahlak commented “Maria Sharapova is one of the most famous athletes in the world, and in 2014 she became the first tennis player, male or female, to pass 15 million fans on Facebook.

It is a pleasure to welcome such a popular player back to Dubai, and we look forward to seeing how she fares against so many other contenders for the title.”

Federer

In the meantime, is still unsure if Roger Federer will play in he Emirates. The Australian Open champion is not in the official entry list and if he plays and he wins the tournament he will definitely regain the top spot in the rankings.
